Our Mission
The mission of the BioLaw Ethics Institute is to work with legal, medical and scientific professionals in the fields of genetic, reproductive and other biological sciences, and the families and clients they serve, to anticipate and resolve ethical conflicts and foster the development of rational, compassionate policies that support strong, healthy families.
We work with doctors, scientists, hospitals and psychologists to understand current law, lawyers, judges, and policy makers to understand the emerging science and all parties to understand and respect the ethical concerns of everyone involved by gathering the leaders of each discipline to work together to understand and formulate forward-thinking responses to issues as they arise.
We offer Mediation Services, Training and Resources for Professionals and Members, as well as Consults and Research.

Mediation in Hospitals
Mediation reduces patient complaints and litigation costs, and will often eliminate the need to spend time and resources attending depositions or responding to disclosure requests. Mediation can be a hospital’s first, and most effective, means to restore trust with patients and other clients, whether the problem is disruptive behavior by a caregiver or unintended harm done to a patient.
Mediation in ART
The services of a skilled Mediator with experience in ART-related negotiations can help all parties to be clear about their wishes and expectations. All parties can then work toward a shared goal: helping a family overcome their obstacles to reproduction. BioLaw Ethics Institute offers mediation and conflict resolution services to reproductive clinics and organizations, and helps you implement policies and procedures to make collaboration with other parties a natural part of your operations.
Upcoming Teleseminars
BioLaw Ethics Institute provides teleseminars on a variety of ART-related topics, always accessible to any professional familiar with ART processes and issues. These online forums allow professionals to communicate, away from the demands of particular cases. Teleseminars in 2011 will begin in March with new teleseminars following each month. The presentations are a vital to building dialogue across professions in the ever-evolving field of assisted reproduction.
